A brief history of the Vestry Hall
The Vestry Hall is about half a mile north of Sheffield city centre, on the junction of Spital Hill and Burngreave Road.

It was built in 1864, originally as a rates collection and registry centre for Brightside Bierlow (or Township), leased by the City Council from the Duke of Norfolk.  In 1957 the Education Department of Sheffield City Council took the building over for the benefit of local residents.
